What a Journey!

The Sunrise team have been helping visitors have great NZ experiences for over twenty five years.

Right from the beginning our philosophy has been simple: give people quality tools and service to have great experiences, and the business will take care of itself.

It all began in the 1990's, long before social media, when New Zealand was wearing stone-wash jeans and listening to grunge music. At that time Cymen and Nick, plus a few mates were running a successful kayak hire business in the Abel Tasman.

A few years back they bought Sunrise Holidays and have breathed new life into the business with their customer focus, attention to detail and extensive tourism knowledge.

Kia ora, my name is Sarah and I’m your point-of-contact for your whole NZ travel experience.

I was born and bred in a small town in the North Island called Kuaotunu. Just like many Kiwis, I grew up on the beach, surfing, swimming, and living off the local 'kai moana' (seafood).

I first found my feet in the tourism industry back in 2006 and learnt that I have a skill and love of looking after people in travel.

 Sarah’s work experience;

  • Sales consultant STA travel

  • Assistant manager Flight Centre

  • Manager boutique online travel agency

  • Now the ‘Silver Bullet’ of Sunrise Holidays

Kia ora, I'm Sarah's sister Kate.

Here at Sunrise, we like to keep the team small and friendly, so I came on board to help out when things got busy after Covid.

Like Sarah, I grew up in the north, but have now settled into small-town life in Wanaka, where I’ve now swapped the surf for the snow!

I started in the travel industry with Sunrise Holidays, but, having always worked within the hospitality industry, my customer service skills have proven useful. I love getting to know and look after all of our Sunrise customers!

Hi, I’m Miriam.

I’ve recently joined the team to lend a hand because Kate has a baby on the way. I’m married to Mike, our web and tech wizard.

I also work part time as a vet nurse in a small rural clinic in beautiful Mohua/Golden Bay. It’s a little off the beaten trail but you won’t regret the detour during your South Island travels.

Hi I’m Cymen, I’m ready to assist with creating a memorable NZ travel experience.

I’ve looked at NZ travel from a bunch of angles over the years. My journey has taken me on a path of innovation through large sections of New Zealand tourism. I’m a CEO, but mainly a creator to be honest.

Cy’s work Experience:

I see things through two lenses:

  1. My business exposure - all the things to see and do in NZ tourism.

  2. But my true initiation in the last fifteen years is traveling Aotearoa in a Campervan with my family, discovering what New Zealand is truly about. I’m open to sharing this with you.

Hey there, Nick here. I’m your kiwi backstop should the unexpected ever happen.

I’ve been looking after people in difficult situations and crisis since I was nineteen years old. From Ambulance, Alpine search and rescue and now a director of Peak Safety.

Also, if you see something in my work bio below, which could help shape your New Zealand experience, then please let me know. I’m here to help.
